Background: Girl Scout Troop 6738 and the Award Projects
About GS Troop 6738
Girl Scout Troop 6738 was established in the fall of 2000.  Currently there are 13 members, ranging from 8th through 12th grade.
They represent 6 schools and reside in 4 cities.  Several hold the Bronze Award, and several are now poised to receive the Silver or
Gold Award -- the highest honor attainable in their respective age groups.  Seven of these girls must complete their award projects
no later than September 30, 2006 to qualify.

About The Award Projects
The girls (who started their work under the "old" requirements) must work at least 30 hours on their Silver Projects (50 hours on their
Golds).   Family members and others will help, increasing the number of person-hours to be donated to the theatre.  Work will include
research, writing a proposal for the Board, presenting and receiving approval of the proposal, detailing a work plan, scheduling the
work, soliciting donations of materials, and securing personnel and equipment.  In addition to completing the actual work, the girls
must demonstrate leadership in the direction of others, clean up after the project, and ensure the goals were met.

Why Stone's Throw Dinner Theatre?
Two of our candidates have appeared in productions, and most of our girls have volunteered as servers or kitchen staff at least once
as they prepared for this project.  All studied theatre terms, learned about stage formats and theatre architecture, examined sets and
lighting, explored interior design, wrote and produced short plays, and investigated careers in the Performing Arts as part of their
award requirements.
