Wilder Star Opened Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade 2006

While preparing for her role as Mary Ingalls in Stone's Throw Dinner Theatre's
"A Laura Ingalls Wilder Christmas", Shira Murphy took time off to appear in the
opening number of the November 23, 2006 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
as part of Camp Broadway's dance troupe. The 600-member team performed
"Give Me a Drum" written by Michael Feinstein with lyrics by Bill Schermerhorn.
Auditions for the event were held both across the United States and in Australia,
so competition was fierce. We congratulate Shira on her tremendous achievement!
Murphy, who has taken dance lessons since age 3, gave Stone's Throw Dinner
Theatre audiences a glimpse of her considerable talent during the 2005 holiday
production of "The Audition" (directed by Rick Schwab). She has studied at
Dancer's Studio here in Carthage, and has also attended summer dance camps.
