To take the show to four of our area schools, three special set pieces called Periaktoi (plural; from the Greek word for revolving) were constructed. A periaktos is a triangular prism on wheels. Our panels were made of a thin, light wood called luan. On each of the three faces, a different scene was painted. By placing our three periaktoi side by side, we were able to create three 12' x 8' freestanding backdrops behind our actors. The periaktoi were constructed by Pete Schlau and Shawn DeGraff. The scenes were designed by Idell Looney, whose painting crew included Lee Pound, Norma Anderson, Kaleigh Cyr, Melissa Evans, Lizzy Schlicht, and Alyssia Soto. The periaktoi proved to be weather-sensitive, so a special thank you goes to Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School for housing them in their heated gym during the bitterly cold week following the snowstorm. Special thanks to Jonathon Peck for his technical research.
